Volume distortion and morphing using disk fields

چکیده
The rapid development of volume graphics offers ample scope to develop new methods and tools for computer graphics and visualisation. This paper is concerned with methods for specifying and controlling complex transformations of volumetric data. A volume distortion algorithm is presented, which allows one volume to be distorted into another under the control of two sets of disk fields. The algorithm also forms a primary module in a volume morphing process that is an extension of the feature-based image morphing technique developed by Beier and Neely [1]. For each inbetween volume, the algorithm is of time complexity O(n·m) depending on the size of the volume n and the number of disk fields m. Tests have shown that the algorithm is capable of performing complex volume transformations within an acceptable time using a small set of disk fields. The merits of the method in comparison with existing approaches for volume distortion and morphing are also discussed.

Three Dimensional Strain Field Morphing
In this paper, we present a new technique for 3D shape morphing using strain fields. Strain is an important geometric quantity used in mechanics to describe the deformation extent of objects. We use it to analyze and control deformation in morphing. Using the position vector field, the strain field between source and target shapes can be obtain. This strain field is then interpolated between ze...
متن کاملHigh Quality Mesh Morphing Using Triharmonic Radial Basis Functions
The adaptation of an existing volumetric simulation mesh to updated parameters of the underlying CAD geometry is a crucial component within automatic design optimization. By avoiding costly automatic or even manual (re-)meshing it enables the automatic generation and evaluation of new design variations, e.g., through FEM or CFD simulations. This is particularly important for stochastic global o...

In this paper, a semi-analytical solution for magneto-thermo-elastic problem in an axisymmetric functionally graded (FG) hollow rotating disk with constant thickness placed in uniform magnetic and thermal fields with heat convection from disk’s surfaces is presented. Solution for stresses and perturbation of magnetic field vector in a thin FG rotating disk is determined using infinitesimal theo...
متن کاملComputing Surface Uniformization Using Discrete Beltrami Flow
In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for computing surface uniformization for surfaces with arbitrary topology. According to the celebrated uniformization theorem, all Riemann surfaces can be classified as elliptic, parabolic or hyperbolic. Our algorithm is able to work on all these cases by first constructing an initial map onto an appropriate domain, such as sphere, or a polygon in the...
متن کاملPareto Optimization of Two-element Wing Models with Morphing Flap Using Computational Fluid Dynamics, Grouped Method of Data handling Artificial Neural Networks and Genetic Algorithms
A multi-objective optimization (MOO) of two-element wing models with morphing flap by using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques, artificial neural networks (ANN), and non-dominated sorting genetic algorithms (NSGA II), is performed in this paper. At first, the domain is solved numerically in various two-element wing models with morphing flap using CFD techniques and lift (L) and drag ...
